This print and it's partner print 'Whakamā' talk about the shame (whakamā) I feel as a pakeha. Accepting the the impact historically and currently of colonisation. Gorse is used as a symbol for this shame, as a symbol for the inevitable changes to our natural heritage as a symptom of colonisation, in paticular to the ngahere and its diversity.
